OnePlus - 5G smartphone

The upcoming MWC2019 is all set to be help in Barcelona by the end of February, where smartphone makers including Xiaomi, Sony and Huawei may make key announcements. Chinese smartphone maker, OnePlus will also be a part of the MWC2019 where is it expected to host an exclusive event, namely ‘Reimagine’ for which it has already started sending media invites.

The announcement for its event Reimagine has not yet been disclosed, however; the only information available for now is regarding the invite which reads “Join OnePlus at Ultramarinos where drinks and a taste of future will be on us.”

Only a selected number of persons that include partners, exclusive guests and media representatives will get the preview of the company’s upcoming smartphone. The device could either be OnePlus 7 or the company’s first 5G enable smartphone; as it has already been established that OnePlus 7 will not be a 5G enabled device.

Speculations have it, that the new device to be revealed at the event might be the 5G enabled smartphone rather than the OnePlus 7; successor to OnePlus 6T. In case the 5G enable smartphone is in fact launched before the OnePlus 7, it can be assumed that the phone may bear features influenced by the OnePlus 6T, which was the company’s latest smartphone to be release last year.

Though the concrete details will only be revealed after the Reimagine event, there have been reports suggesting that the 5G phone might have 6.4- inch display maintaining the in- display fingerprint sensor and a water- drop notch. The device might run on Snapdragon 855 SoC. According to OnePlus’ earlier revelation, it was planning to replace Snapdragon modem with custom5G modem to minimize costs of its upcoming device.
