Sometime in 2018, Sonos had confirmed to integrate Google assistant with its smart speakers, however on Thursday the company announced that the plan has been delayed.
In the company’s blogpost, they have mentioned about locking a date somewhere in 2019 since they are still working on getting the perfect experience but details of the same have not been mentioned.
As a consolation for the disappointed users, the company has announced a private beta test for which users can sign up. The test will require the signees to commit to at least 14 hours of listening, respond to surveys within 72 hours and use 10 voice commands on a daily basis.
The tests by the vendor will commence with a few hundred homes followed by a few thousand in the time to come.
The Sonos One and Sonos Beam speakers by Sonos already support Amazon Alexa and Apple’s AirPlay and were suppose to start supporting Google Assistant in 2018 itself.
